Robert Frosts The Road Not Taken The Definition Of Success

Success is not easy to achieve. In Robert Frost’s famous poem â€Å"The Road Not Taken†, the main character describes his success in saying â€Å"Two roads diverged in a wood, and †¦ I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.† In order to become successful it takes hard work and dedication. Not only that but one must be determined to achieve success. Not many people are willing to go down this path. Success is defined as â€Å"accomplishment of what is desired or aimed at, achievement...† (New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus of the English Language, 988). As noted, success is achieved by someone who has the desire to reach their goal. The New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus of the English Language defines success as â€Å"the†¦show more content†¦By doing so this ensures that the students with the best grades and GPA have a higher possibility in getting into the best universities, therefore; they succeed in life. Students also strive to achieve the best grades in order to become valedictorian and show the universities that they are serious about their studies and prove to them that they are the best fit for their school. However this is not the only type of success there is. Another form of success is familial success. Familial success can come from a numerous ways. Although many people may not see family as a form of success, like money or fame, it sure can be the best form of success a working parent may have. Nowadays it’s most likely that both parents in a household work which results in them missing out on experiencing their children grow due to their jobs. If both parents are able to maintain a stable job, provide for their family, and be able to spend quality time with their children that may be considered the greatest success they are striving for. The children of full time working parents may see spending quality time with their parents as the greatest form of success, and not really focus on the monetary because they are able to enjoy having their parents around.
